Primary tabs

Michaela Herbst was born in 1970 in Osterburg, Germany and grew up in the historic Altmark region. She started working more intensively with painting and colors in 1994. Her work has been displayed throughout the region, for example in Osterburg, Stendal, Gardelegen, and Magdeburg. She has been teaching painting since 1997, specifically at the Kreisvolkshochschule in Stendal since 2009. By illustrating a children's book, she was able to fulfill a lifelong dream. Her paintings are featured on the covers of Nun friss mich schon [Just Eat Me Already] and Zwischen dem Leben [Between Lives] from author Danuta Ahrends.

Michaela finds inspiration in the American painter, Jackson Pollock, and the English painter, David Hockney. Pollock's technique has greatly influenced her work. She currently lives with her family in Goldbeck in the Altmark.
