Henrik Jaron Schneider (he/him/his) obtained his B.A. in American studies with a minor in communications from Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany, in July 2016. As a graduate student, he spent a year abroad at California State University, Fullerton, on a Fulbright grant before returning to Germany to complete his M.A. in American studies. In his master’s thesis, Henrik employed queer theory to examine the ambiguities created by the juxtaposition of representations of reproductive technologies and frontier iconography in the Jurassic World films. As a prospective Ph.D. student at UT Austin, he is eager to delve into questions concerning gender, sexuality, race, and ethnicity in the context of cultural narratives – particularly as they relate to imaginaries of prehistory, new technologies, and futurity in visual and material cultures.
