Jay Lalonde is currently a final-year MA student in the Inter-American Studies program at the University of Iceland. They can be reached at jal9[at]hi.is.

Jay’s ongoing research focuses mainly on Icelandic emigration to North America—particularly Atlantic Canada—in the 19th century, and on how it has been reflected in literature and historical records as part of the larger structure of colonial settlement and so-called ethnic settlements in Canada. They are interested in a broad range of scholarly topics, mainly in the field of comparative literatures and transnational literary theory, such as migration literatures, translations, queer theory and more.

They are currently thinking about the intersections of migration and settler colonialism, and about the relationship between "multicultural literature" and anti-colonial thought.
