I enrolled in the MA in American Studies Program in 2010 after receiving a DAAD scholarship. Before coming to Leipzig, I spent a year at Kenyon College, US, as a Fulbright fellow. I had studied cryophysics for a year after High school, but eventually got a degree in English from Moscow City Pedagogical University. Apart from that, I studied French literature and sociology, and obtained a certificate in Spanish. My practical experience includes teaching languages and working as a translator and a personal assistant. I had become interested in American studies when an undergraduate and my stay in the US encouraged me to continue. Choosing an MA program in Germany, I wanted to get the European perspective on this discipline and broaden my outlook.

As a student at Leipzig, I find aspeers a wonderful opportunity to improve one's skills. Also, I regard Dewey's idea "learning by doing,” which underlies the journal's strategy, particularly appealing and beneficial. In the future I would like to get a PhD and work in public sphere.
